Hello,

I just signed up because I am looking to get some custom chavetas made.

What is a chaveta? well I am a cigar maker and a chaveta is used to cut the tobacco in the rolling process of making the cigar. It is a simple blade usually made from recycled hand saw or circular saw blades.

I do rolling events all over the country to support my brands, and I wanted to have some show piece style chavetas. I just recently put some custom handles on my blades, and they look awesome, but now I want better blades.

I am not sure how your quest is going, but this sounds like a fun project. I may be able to help. Those blades are very similar to the ulu which is used up here, except the ulu is only beveled on one side of the edge.

You ought to have someone make you a badass wild damascus blade. That would get attention at your events.

I would assume they have to be a certain pattern. Can you scan the ones you have and post them at 100% or post to a link? Blade is 1/16th probably ? Do you need stainless ? or a tool steel be ok ? Its an easy project if you are set up for the wider blades. I would do it just for just the cost because I am a cigar smoker :) I ll send someone a message that I know might be interested.
