Hey Post some pics.

I do want to get some pics posted, but I still trying to get a setup for decent lighting to get a pic worth posting. Buy kits and supplies or work on the lighting? It's a fine line we new guys walk. ;)

I'm sure that lots of the guys getting the kits are dealing with this situation.

But the kits are :smokin:

Add all this to the Imagestation, et. al. problems and what is a guy to do?

Seriously, Thanks for the great work on getting out quality kits!

And I will be working on the photo end real soon.

Thanks,

Bob Sigmon

Guys,

If you're having problems getting in, send the kits to AV and we'll shoot them and eat the return shipping for you.

MOP handle, handrubbed blade, mirror polished bolsters.
Ropes4u, I drilled the MOP on a piece of Micarta. Use a new drill bit (sharp). I also put masking tape on top to help avoid chipping. I used a small step drill for the countersink. It grinds easily but don't get it hot, constantly dunk it in water. Use a good mask. working it wet helps keep the dust down alot. I shape on grinder with new 320 grit belt, then hand sand to 600 and polish with new wheel with pink or white compound. There's probably a better way, but this is trial and error.

Bill

How was the MOP to work with and what tools are required. I used G10 on mine but have decided to put some wood on it instead as soon as it is done I will post a few pics. I hand sanded my bolters to 2000 grit but I cna still see small sanding marks in it - i guess there is no way to eliminate them? I ordered my wood from the woodlady pre stabilized. should look good, next one will have some filework and maybe a relieved thumbstud area....

Guys,

I posted my EVN-1 in the Gallery. These knives deserve it!

Bill Foote: Please just include the link to the album page? Webshots won't allow you to send it out of the home. (Little red x's)

Keep em comin'!

Coop,
Added the pic from webshots.com. It mysteriously disappeared off of My Album today. Will readd and repost when I get home. It's getting harder to find a reliable photo host. I even paid for Photopoint and they're gone, what a ripoff.
edited with link.

My pic doesn't show up with webshots.com anymore, lemme try fototime, like Coop suggested....

OK, NOW you did it!!!! Shweet! :D

Bill, that looks outstanding. Beautiful work on the pearl (which, I'm told is NOT easy). This knife is fairly small and fits nicely in the pocket. Your's must be a real pleasure. Good work!

Thanks for the view!

Bob,
Thanks for the info but I believe this particular problem may be with EZBoard. I was able to post two pictures this morning from Imagestation on Bladeforums in the Bernard Levine forum:
www.bladeforums.com/forum...id=1552353 (http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=1552353)

Some how, it is getting parsed with an extra "" in the properties. Hey, I don't know, it just doesn't work and its frustrating and THEN AOL froze up and I think I am going out to just pound on some hot steel!

Used Blue/Black G10 that came with kit, hand rubbed blade, mirror polished bolsters and scales. See how a new screw kit could make it look better? I'll get some.

Bill,

Great Job! Really nice polish job!

I must not spend enough time on each grit.
Practice, Practice, Practice.

Also, Jason Burns kit is really nice. I have one with burled wood but I've been using it.

Bob, I have a piece of marble with 1/4" rubber glued on for leather work. I used double sided taped to stick the bolsters to the rubber, then hand rub starting with 320 lightly, then to 600. The double sided tape keeps those thin bolsters stable.
I use a piece of thick leather to back up my sandpaper.
Don't got to 600 till the 320 scratches are gone. Then 1200.
My 3/4 HP Baldor buffer at 1800 RPM doesn't hurt either. Hold small pieces like the bolster with masking tape that has a fold in the middle for a handle. Sometimes I skip the buffer and keep the 600 grit hand rub finish. It has a nice look when you've been careful to keep the 600 scratches straight.

Bill,

Thanks for the tips. I need to setup better for finishing (oh yea, and take more time). Your work is really an inspiration!

I swaped a guy for this one. It was finished but still needs some work. It's in pieces now while I try to polish the "flats" on the blade.

I think I'll be doing more of these.

Do these count, Not kit knives:

Chinese LCC Bubinga scales. This is a salvage job that someone botched.

Both your knives and photo's. Welcome aboard!

That GX6 looks familiar. Did you swap it from a fellow whose initials are SJS? He has been offering these on eBay for some time. You will do better, I can tell already.

Thos LCC clones are fun, but I haven't seen one work for more than a month without failing. :( Hope you have better luck!

Nice job with the BM's. Those are my faves of this bunch!

Thanks,

I'm not sure where my friend got the the GX6 from. I swapped a BM tanto for it. The handles are claimed to be ivory. I know it's bone of some kind.

Your right about the LCC the lock no longer LOCKS.

I did 5 ACFKs and a BM CQC7. they all went to friends but I manages to sell one.
