I've put together a dozen DDR1's and have found the ball bearing and blade detent don't hold the blade shut as firmly as I would like, while still retaining a smooth and easy opening action. Have tried bending the liner spring to add more force, and drilling the blade detent (very slightly) deeper, but the blades are still a bit loose when closed. Next step will be to replace the ball bearing with a larger size, but, before trying that, does anyone have any better suggestions?

Don't have a good answer, but the problem would be that the detent is too BIG already, so by drilling it it would only get worse. What about grinding/sanding the blade slightly in the area of the detent to reduce it? It would move the outer edge of the detent hole inboard and lock it tighter. Just a thought.
