Just another new guy in the forum. I am a saddle builder who expanded into some silversmithing and now am doing some custom knife work. Just started a couple months ago and have 15 orders for knives. I am building good working knives in the $150 range using some blanks but have made a few out of D2 O1 and A2. I am using primaraly the Acrilister product with good results with 2 tone handles and mosaic pins. This is my first time in the forum so this is just a get aquainted message. Would appreciate any advice on favorite steel and a good source for Damascus blanks until I find time to forge my own. Thanks P.S. I like critisism from the professionals so feel free. I am not a computor wiz but maybe my wife will show me how to post some pictures for you guys to critic. Thanks.

Hey Turtleherder!

Welcome to the CKD. "turtlehurder'???!! NOW I've heard them all!!! ;)

Boy, you must be doin' something right to have 15 orders on your first attempts! Good for you. We would LOVE to see your stuff. Get the wifey to teach you a few tricks about posting (BTW--I have a tutorial on just this very confusing subject stuck in the 'Computer Center' forum. Look there.)

I think some of your queries and further quests *might* be better answered in the Newbies forum, but I'm not chasin' you out. Take the time to browse these forums. You will find an answer to just about every question. Don't hold back the questions, though. That would be no fun!!!! ;)

See ya around,

Coop

Coop,
Thanks for the reply. I looked at the newbie forum and am in it also. Didn't realize there was a newbie until after I registered. They are attempting a newbie contest I would love to enter but sounds like I will need a sponsor..intrested? Yep, 15 behind and just getting started, my first thought is I am too cheap. But need the practice and as long as there is a market.... I will tell you how I got the handle Turtleherder someday... has nothing to do with being slow.
