Was at the deer lease a few months ago and my friends little boy was so fasinated by the hunting knife I had he couldn't stand it so I carved him one out of a piece of wood, he was not impressed he wanted a "real one". When I got back home I took a piece of 1/8"x1-1/2" cold finished 1018 and cut out a drop point hunter? 6"blade 5"handle, ground about a 60 degree "chisel" edge on it so he would think it was sharp, put hard wood oak handles on it with a brass guard and really started getting into it, pollished it all out and by golly it looks pretty darn good, mild steel and all.
That's it I'm hooked, I've ordered some steel, in the process of building a grinder. I've been lurking around this forum a few weeks and found it extremely informative. Need to order Gene Osborn's video and by the way Gene I saw on one of your post you gave a phone number and sounds like your on the east side of Ft. Worth as well as I.
Sorry to ramble on so, just wanted to share my story.
Looking forward to leaning from the masters.
