John,
You're not likely to find it there. Try any of the knifemaker's supply houses such as:

Texas Knifemakers (http://www.texasknife.com/)
Jantz Supply (http://www.jantzsupply.com/)
K&G Supply (http://www.knifeandgun.com/)
Sheffield Knifemakers Supply (http://www.sheffieldsupply.com/)

You might also want to look at the suppliers list by Craig Wilkins in our Supply Center (http://pub42.ezboard.com/fcustomknifedirectoryforumfrm14) Forum.

Oh, and welcome to the forums!

I have found it in full sheets at a couple of the local industrial plastic supply houses.

George, I tried that too a few years ago. I my particular case the selection was small and the price was high. Some of the stuff didn't quite work the same or smell the same as the Micarta I am accustomed to using. Other folks may have better results than I did. It is a good idea.

Oh, I did end up with a couple of nice slabs of Delrin (sp?) back then. You don't see much of that stuff any more do you? I wonder why. Cost prohibitive maybe, or lack of demand?

John,

If you're wanting a small amount then the knife supply stores are the way to go. If you want a full sheet try Angus-Campbell at: 1-323-587-1236.

I found that I could get exactly what I use now but the wait was longer. The advantage I have is that I purchased a piece of material from a supply house with the manufacturers label on it with part #s etc.

I had a local metal shop turn me on to these guys. www.mcmaster.com/ (http://www.mcmaster.com/) go to home, raw materials, and choose plastics. They have delrin, nylon, carbon fiber, micarta, g-10 ect. micarta is $11.50ish for 1/4x12x12. They also have sample sheets. 6x6 sample of 1/4 was around $7.00. Good luck and happy shopping. Fish
