I know everyone probably has their preferences for one or the other but are there drawbacks to chrome tanned leather? Do the residues from the tanning process (metal salts?) cause corrosion on steel? Ideally, should only veggie tanned leather be used for sheaths?

Thanks for the help!

Veg-tanned will by far give you the best results, especially if you do any tooling.I also find it more pliable for bending and stitching. All leather sheaths will cause some corrosion because of moisture, but I have heard the same thing about Chrome tanned and the metal salts.Hope this helps.Dave
