I've heard a couple of people say that they use rare earth magnets for retention mechanisims. Can someone give me an insight on how this is incorporated into the sheath? Also does the magnet magnetize the knife at all?

It's sandwiched in between the sheath and the lining, so it won't scratch the blade. Works for me.
