Hi guys,

At the last TrackRock I got the opportunity to get with Rick Lowe and have him put together 3 knives for, guess who, my 3 grandkids. These are slender little pieces and just right for the hand of a lady or a young person. Of course the grands are a little to young to carry or use these but it won't be long at the rate they are growing up.

I received the knives today and I am very pleased with them. Thought ya'll might like to see them.

Emmie's will be the front one. Avery gets the choice of the next two only because he is 7 years old and Micah at 19 months old is not old enough to know what he is choosing :)

Soon as I get up with Rick I'll let you know what these are made of and what the handle material is. When I ordered them I just said "oh this is pretty, use it". John would have been appalled at my approach. I have so much to learn.

Thanks Rick for taking the time to do this. Avery and David had a great time at TrackRock and still tell folks about them "hammerin". Carl, you, and all the guys at TrackRock are the best for taking the time to pass the craft on to those who are coming behind us.

I heard from Rick this evening. All three blades are forged 5160, triple quenched and triple tempered. The last quench is an edge quench. The finish is hand rubbed satin. The smallest knife (the one for Emmie) is paudak with brass pins, the other two are birdseye maple with brass furniture.

These really are sleek little knives. My son-in-law, Frank, was asking where his was when he looked them over tonight. I think the kids will really like them--not that they are toys.

Joan, knives look really good. Rick you did a great job and possibly started a kid on the way to becoming a knife maker. Reall like the tan sheath. trav

Rick not only did me a good job on these little cuties but he is an all around nice guy. He is a humble soul that just loves to hammer.

Need to join us at Trackrock and meet brother Rick in person. He's good people (even for an Okie!). Just be aware that his anvil juggling routine needs a bit of work. Between him and JC, I hardly get to rest my laugh-sore ribs. We have a lot of fun together. I'm sure you would fit right in, if you bring your favorite hammer.
