I have noticed something on my knives. I run the spine and as much of the handle as I can on the contact wheel, with the knife vertical, not horizontal, to get everything flush, but i noticed the handles and tang are not flush. it my contact wheel too soft where the blade it getting pressed it a little and rounding everything out or am I presing too hard???

I don't think so. I suspect what is happening is your handle material (wood?) is shrinking a hair as a result of heat and moisture loss. How long after the actual grinding do you notice this phenomenon? If it is instantly noticeable, then I'm off base, but if you notice it the next morning, it's a possiblity.

It was jigged bone, the micarta hasn't done this much. I noticed it a day later, but I ground them and didn't even think about it till the next day. Also, the weather changed from warm to cold, maybe the weather change did it?? :(

Some materials will expand slightly when they get hot (thermal expansion). If you are ginding them while they're hot, and then allow them to cool, they can shrink back a hair from where you ground them. Different materials expand at different rates, of course.
I think the solution is to make sure that you take very light cuts on the grinder. It will take you a little longer, but you will avoid overheating things.

Sharp belts will also reduce heat buildup, I always use new sharp belts when finishing edges of tangs for this reason.

Could it be that what is happening is that due to dull belts that the steel is being under cut and the handle material is being over cut. If this is what is happening it can also happen if you go to too fine a finishing belt that is sharp without steping through several sizes. Hope you can solve your problem you sure have come to the right place for help. Sometimes we just don't give the right information or enough and thats why the answers sometimes don't seem to work. Ok. My belts are getting pretty worn, so that is probably the problem! One more excuse to order more!!
