Good morning, I'm working with some very small pieces of bone and need to be able to hang on to them. I've read about hot glueing a stick to the back of them, but I can't remember how to release them. Anybody know how to release hot glue ?

you can use double-stick carpet tape, with one side attached to your "handle" and the other attached to the piece of bone.
Hot glue will work too, and it shears easily so you can just break the workpiece off of the glue joint.

I always use small pieces of wood on the face of my scales to flatten them. When you are through grinding just slip a outty knife in the joint and push gently- the glue will come off cleanly. A quick wipe with a little Acetone and you are right back to work.

Dennis, try the thin double sided carpet tape (not the stuff with foam in the center). If you have trouble with it sticking and are worried that a knife point may be two thick and dent your handle material try waxed dental floss. I use this trick when making the lids on my small wooded boxes.
