Hi y'all, I was wondering if anyone has used the new interlace synthetic stuff from TKS. I have someone that wants a pearl type handle on a folder, but I am worried about durability. I just finished one with the fantasy marble from Koval, pretty stuff, doesn't seem as though it would be good for an every day use knife though. Seems to chip pretty easy. Any comments would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

I use the TKS material from time to time and it looks great but it is soft and scratches fairly easily. Try the red if you want something eyepopping, looks like crushed velvet when it is done.

Thanks George, I think I'll order some of the pearl and the red to see how they look.

Dan, I have a customer that wants some of the emerald green,I told him I didn't think it would be good for everyday but that is what he wants. Hoping it will work ok for him. Mike Sader

I'm not saying this to be at all mean-spirited, but when I was in the business of inlaying guitar fretboards, we used to refer to the synthetic pearl as "Mother-of-Toilet Seat." ;)

Good one Don, maybe I could get their name inlayed with Charmin

Don you have it wrong, the acrylic material is called "mother of toilet seat", this is a polyester based material so it is more properly called "mother of bass boat".
