How can a textured finish be obtained on G10 scales.
I've tried sanding with various grits, and also glass bead blasting, but haven't been able to get consistent, attractive results.
I recall seeing a thread on this subject, but can' t find it again.

Hi Kelly,
There is a little trick I Iearned from another knifemaker with regards to blast finishing G-10.
The first thing is you have to start with a good smooth surface. This will minimize the amount you auctually have to blast away.
On to the blaster!
This part just takes a little practice to get an even result. You are really only taking off a small amount of the surface exposing the structure (weave?) of the G-10.
Now you G-10 handles are all grippy...the only problem is your nice dark black(or blue etc.)G-10 you started with is now light coloured and unfinished looking.
Enter THE TRICK!
Take and spray a light coating of WD-40 over the entire handle let it sit a little and then wipe it clean with a cloth.
this should turn black G-10 balck again and other colours like blue will brighten up.
hope this helps some
Regards
Eric
