Hey,
I just got a request for one of my knives finished in stabilized bone. I've never worked with any kind of bone, though, and I'm not sure where to get it. I've seen sea cow bone and mammoth bone on WSSI and Ivoryworks web sites -are those prices about average? Thanks!

Go to your local Kroger or pet store and get a bleached cow shin bone and cut your slabs from it. They are inexpensive and you can pick through them for the size you want. They are sold as dog chews.

You will still have to have them stabilized, but you can get larger slabs than you can buy from the supplie houses.
