ok, iam new to this,,,, iam building a lockback and after i made my design on paper i cut it out and sprayed adhesive on some clear plexiglass,,,,then cut out the pattern on my mill. i cut out the blade out of some aluminum and was able to fit up everything and see how it allfit together with out the risk of ruining some nice metal. the lock i cut out of aluminum as well. the holes were alldrilled and fit all together with pins. if youmess up the hole locations, youcan epoxy them shut and redrill till you get it right. just a thought, has anyone else tried this...... it worked for me. allyou have to do then is copy your pattern on the metal of choice and goto it,,,,,, )

Sounds good. I used plexiglass early for fixed patterns. Over the years, I have managed to replace them with steel templates. It should work great for folders, plus being clear, you can see all your clearances :)

I find that arborite or formica work swell for me.Easy to make but strong enough for good outlines repeatedly. Frank Niro
