I've had a request for a holder that holds a folder in such a way that when you take the folder from the holder it opens the folder. I know that all that sound a bit strange but that the best way I can describe it. I seem to remember seeing such a device some years ago in a knife mag. but I can't remember which one and when.
Does anyone know when I can get one and/or anyone that makes them.

Regards from Australia.

Neil
I recently saw a knife similar to what you are describing. I do not know the manufacturer, but I will ask the owner next time I see him. The heavy leather sheath had a metal insert or pin in the blade side that engaged a hook or crescent shaped protrusion on the top (back) of the blade. The blade was forced to start rotating open in order to pass the pin. Fastest thing I ever saw. Could this be the one you are looking for?
Thanks

I'm not sure Gary, I seem to remember that this holder would accommodate most lockback folders.

Neil, if memory serves me, it was an aftermarket sheath-type product for Buck folders that stored the knife in a partially open position. When you pulled the knife out of the sheath, it opened the rest of the way.

That's correct Don, can you remember who made them?

No, but I think there was either an ad or an article in one of the knife magazines somewhere in the last 5 years or so. I know that's not much help.

Hi neil, this may be a bit late but your info request stuck with me ,as I knew I had seen these devices advertised.Lo and behold ,Blade magazine,Dec 96,page 80 has ads from two sources at considerly different prices.I don't have a scanner, nor am I knowledgable(yet) in sending diagrams via this medium but perhaps one of our members better versed than I,with the publication at hand would be able to help.If that avenue fails I will try to describe it in print.I was never much taken with the idea and felt it was more gimmick than useful.I don't see them advertised anymore. Hope this helps a bit. Regards,Pete

Neil, email me your snail mail and I will send you one. I bought a few on ebay a couple years ago, for the Buck 110 and the Buck 112.
