I am wondering if any one profiles there knife then send it away to heat treat then grind there bevels.Steel after heat treat
from what I have heard from some good makers
is a different beast after heat treat,if one is careful and has a hard contact wheel could grind there bevels and not get
so much of a rough finish on the courser grits, from what I have
been told the steel grinds different.I would like to hear the pros
and cons about this way of grinding.

Nathan, this is mostly done by folder makers- rarely for fixed blades.

Some times when I forge one really close to shape, I go ahead and HT before grinding.
The better I get at forging, the more I hope to do this.
It saves time, but I have to hot stamp the blades now in the rough and be sure to not grind off too much, and that takes practice.
