hey guys.
i was just wondering wether its posible to make a slipjoint spring out of 440c. and if so, how, what should i ask the heat treaters to do,is it just a matter of having it tempered to a lower hardness?

Yes, 440C should make a good spring.
Have it hardened and tempered down to 45 to 50Rc.:gossip:

Hi Brett,
Wy you don't use 420c it is much less expensive of the 440c, after this you can use 440c for another project.

Nah, use the same as the blade and there will never be confusion. And for me, I like the 440C better anyhow...

the only reason i plan on useing 440c is because i have a bucket load off it and its easier if the blade and spring are from the same bar.
