I've knocked around the web for about a week now looking for a good group of "knife people" to help me, this sure seems like the place. A few years ago I was stationed in Sitka Alaska, while there, my grandfather sent me a knife to carry while hunting. I took one look at it and put it back in the box. I assumed it was valuable from its original condition and packaging. He told me he bought it new "cant remember year" and never used it. It still has the original edge, box, paperwork and price tag. Maybe some of you can tell me what this thing is worth, if not, maybe another good place to ask this question. I can't give you a price, but maybe I can help date it for you. I recall selling them in the mid 1980's when I managed a cutlery story. We were less than 50 miles from the Gerber factory so we sold quite a few Gerbers.

Here is one on ebay. Not as nice as yours. Might want to watch it and see how much it closes for to get a rough idea.
