Has the date been settled as to when the fall meet will be held? Seems to me that Frank told me the available weekends but I am having one helluva senior moment. I am trying to find out in order to see if it will conflict with Bowie's (Ron Claibourne) event. I thought I might try to make them both. Knoxville isn't that far from here! ---Sandy---

Hey Sandy. I got the following from Carl in an email last week:

I have cleared the date with the campground owners and we are set for the last weekend in October. This is the weekend of October 27, 28, & 29.
So start making plans, getting reservations, collectiong tools and stuff.
I will update this email on a regular basis to keep you guys reminded.

Info on the campgrounds - www.trackrock.com
They also provide directions and good mapping.

I will need to compile a headcount for both the campground and the cook so start letting me know.

Carpe ferrum!

Whaddayano! I managed not to conflict with brother Ron for a change. Wish like the dickens I could make his doings but Sept is a total washout after the Guild meeting on the 16th. The Great Southern Knife Show is Oct. 7, 8. Just not enough days that month.

How you doing Poppa? Trying to get John to meet me up at your place soon, looks like late next week right now.

Thanks Jamey, I'm running behind on knife work and haven't been watching the pot like I should.

Carl, my son, my son! Welcome is an inadequate word when used in conjunction with you and John. Come, spend the weekend, the red carpet reaches all the way to TR road and the frig is filled with goodies. We can beat up a cow or two--bring knives to make sheaths for--------Poppa

Just keeping this Trackrock posting current. Will try to post more details this weekend.

You guys that didn't make the Guild meeting at Scott's missed a great weekend. Two very informative discussions and a great hawk demo. Scott and his wife/family are gracious host and made everyone feel right at home.

Leroy Matthews gave us a very good insite into what the buyer/collector looks for in knives and the whys. He has a lot of experience and brought many examples to support his comments. Thank you Leroy.

Harry and Charlie headed a good discussion on ethics in advertising and selling your knives, something we all need to be concerned with on a daily basis. Honesty is always a top priority.

Steve Brazeale toughed out the sun and heat to walk us through the mechanics of forging a hawk out of a ball-peen hammer head. Not for the faint of hammer, but the results are truly amazing. Steve does beautiful work.

Enjoyed talking and visiting with everyone.

Well, as you know, the best laid plans of mice and men often go astray! I have been badgering a long time friend and his wife from Florida to come for a visit. Well, they are coming at last and at the same time as the fall hammer in. I have invited several friends to stay with me at that time and I am embarrassed that the extra room might not be available. The friends from Florida did say that one or two of their older sons might come with them but this has not been verified. I will have room for at least two guys and that space is up for grabs. Contact me for details. I am not sure how much time I will be able to spend at the hammer in but it does look as though I will have to forsake the little tutoring sessions at the hammer in and at my shop. Will make better arrangements for the next spring hammer in that will not get buggered up! ---Sandy---
