I just wondered how hard and what draw temp. I should use for a set of 440c liners. Also should I finish grind the .050 thickness and bend the lock before ht trt or surface grind and bend after ht. trt. I know a lot of makers use titanium but I have lots of 1/16" 440c on hand and like working with it better.
thanks Paul

Just my opinion, but I think you'd be asking for trouble using 440C for liners. It's not the greatest thing in the world for flexing, even when tempered back to a "spring" temper. I would suspect that after a number of opening and closing cycles the lock would start getting stress cracks in it, and eventually would break. There's good reasons why you don't see makers using it as liner material.
