A friend of mine is 1st mate on a dagger. For those who don't know a dragger is a fishing boat that drags the sea floor for scollops. He will be saving me any bones that comes up. New Bedford, Ma. is one off the largest fishing ports on the east coast. My question is has anyone used this type off bone after they have been dried and stablized???

I've not personally used it, but it would seem logical that once it is well dried and stabilized, it would make usable knife handles. The only possible drawback I can see is that if it is anything like sea cow bone, it might not be the best material for a "user" knife. (Sea cow tends to be a bit on the brittle side, even after stabilizing.
Anyone ever used it?? Give us some help on this one.
