I want to do some knives with thumb ramp's and will have to order a chequering file. Can anyone enlighten me as to which sort to get. Texas Knife Supplies do them in 20, 30, & 40 lines per inch. Which would be most suitable.

Also can anyone tell me of any other suppliers that sell them and would send on over to the U.K.

Regards,

Andy..

I like the heavier checkering. Its also easier to do than the fine stuff. 40 is too small for me. 20 to 30 IHMO is best with me liking the 20 best.

Andy,

I got mine from Brownells some time ago. http://www.brownells.com
But I see Texas Knifemakers Supply are now carrying them as well, and their price is a lot cheaper than Brownells. http://www.texasknife.com

I'm sure they would post one to the UK. I buy a bit of stuff from them, and shipping to Australia is no problem. If you get one, use it carefully, the teeth are very brittle.
