Ken, Found this information in Wayne Goddards, The Wonder of Knifemaking. 6l50 is real close to 5l60. It has .10 less carbon, .l0 more chrom. The big difference is the vanadium, being .18 of one percent. There is no vanadium in 5l60. Wayne did say it was a little more difficult to forge and used a higher tempering temperture. 6l50 is used more for truck leaf springs. Ray
