Does anyone know of any "how to" videos on can welding? I have been doing some but I am sure I am either doing it wrong or the hard way (maybe both). It appears to be a more recent development since I have not seen alot of can welded blades on most websites. Or has it been around a while and I have been living in a bladsmithing black hole?
Lack of information is not going to stop me since learning by brail has been very good to me over the years, aside from a little scar tissue.

If we ever get it out on the market, my Basic Mosaic video has a very short section on building/welding in a can. I'll keep everyone posted when the video is ready for release.
Release date for Mosaic Damascus will be soon.
Can welding has a complete section covering the applications involved in that video.
It will be posted on The Knife Network first so stick around.

Some folks do. I personally believe that anything you can put into a "can" (within reason) you can weld. The whole trick with:puke: stainless :puke: damascus is controlling the atmosphere...if you can do that then there's not many steels you can't weld. Depending on the alloys used there are a number of different ways to control the atmosphere.....from keeping the oxygen away (such as in a "can") to pumping in an inert gas such as argon.
