In case pure silver hardware for your next RMK is on your radar, the price of silver went up 30% in 2005 and is expected to go higher. I am running out of the stock I purchased at lower prices, but unlike the gasoline dealers who screwed us by selling their cheaper gas at inflated prices, I am not raising my prices until I have to replenish my silver stock. When I do, which is going to be pretty soon, I won't be able to eat a 30% increase in materials so I will have to raise my prices.
You guys who already have RMKs with silver hardware should be aware of the 30% jump in replacement cost resulting from this increase in case your knives are "scheduled personal property" on your homeowner's insurance policies.
I posted this on the RKS site also so that all my RMK buds would have the same info.
Best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year. Doug

Doug,
I have a couple of Randall knives due to be built next year. Two have Model 25 handles: Model 12-9 and a Model 25-5. I would like to upgrade them with silver guards and butts. I have a Raymond Thorpe in 2008 with customer supplied ivory that I would like to also have silver guard and butt. Do you have any suggestions? Lupin

Lupin, I too have a 12-9 with a 25 handle due out of the shop...later this year I think. It will have a #25 handle, ivory center, and silver furniture: lugged hilt, spacers, and butt cap. I am really looking forward to seeing it. Not many of them around. Maybe 1 or 2 others. Most folks prefer the forward curved hilt which I also like, but I tend to go for the lugged hilts. Different strokes for different folks as they say.
I would be glad to talk with you about furnishing silver parts for your knives. If you would like to call, my phone number is (716) 687-1334. Evening calls are best when I'm not in the shop or out buying silver, ivory and Randall Made Knives. If you would like me to call you that would be fine also. My email address is silverknife1@aol.com. Leave me your phone number and I will return the call during the evening hours. At this point it is not too late to modify your specs with the Randall Shop for knives which will be built next year or in 2008. If you send me your snail mail address I will send you a brochure which includes color photos of some silver hardware knives and some of my customer's silver hardware knives. Gives you a good idea of how some of them might look. Regards, Doug
