Called Universal Agencies Inc. who claim to be the makers, suppliers, importers, distributers or ???? of Thunderforged Damascus. Talked with a nice guy about my problems. Right off - he told me no guarentee!!! ;) Said they "sell it so cheap and besides a piece of damascus the same size from anybody else would cost $200.00". The guy claimed he wrote the instructions that I got. And he knew the people where I bought it. He gave me some help but I'm not to sure he knows any more than I do. Info I got here makes better sense.

Well I bought another piece of thunderforged but for bolsters and spline material. :) It is pretty stuff and works well for these things.

Also bought some pearl for handles, so we'll see. Prices seems reasonable.

Anybody else ever deal with UAI on stuff. They are suppost to be some leading importer of Stag (when you could import stag). Sound like nice folks.

Of course I may try a blade again with all the help I got here. Thanks a lot for trying to give me the information and ideas.

I have only dealt with them one time and that was for some horn scales. They seemed very pleasant and easy to deal with for the little that I've worked with them.

That just confirms my suspicions about being more worried about making a buck than offering high quality.
As far as the handle materials, I'm of the mind set anymore that I don't buy any handle material (except maybe G-10 or the likes) without first seeing it.

A couple years ago they had excellent prices in stag, at '99 Blade Show. No that good this year.
Regarding the damascus, my lawier (who is a hobby knifemaker) has made two knives out of it so far and no problems, now this thing about "no guarantee"... Ouch! I did not know that when I bough that stuff to my lawier. regardless of the steel quality, I think this should be clearly steted somewhere.
Best regards
