I had a wacky idea that I was going to take a 3/16" piece of damaskus and weld it to a 1/4" piece of 1095 on one side only. Drew it out, scored on the dam. side and fold it over making a pattern on both sides with a mono core. Seemed to go alright till I realized the center is twice as thick and the pattern is getting thin. Ant suggestions besides the scrap bucket on how to proceed from here? Thanks, Roc

Add 1095 to each side now Roc, then forge on out. You'll then have 1095 on each side and middle, and the pattern on each side of the middle 1095 (I'm getting a headache). BUT, as you draw this out, the pattern will sure get small. Maybe flatten from the edge then twist. Don't scrape it though, it's good for something.

Yeah, if you've seen Tracy Mickley's latest post, sometimes an odd piece of steel will take you places you didn't expect to go.

Forge it into an axe... drill out the drift?
