Yo Alex,
The Gallery is a cool idea, but I gotta tell you the load time on every new page is driving me up a wall! I'm on DSL and my computer is still shy of ancient.
Honestly the Gallery isn't something I anticipate using very often. A preference for disabling it would speed my KN-ing back up to more pleasant levels... :)

I concur, an option to turn it off would be great. Right now more frustrating than fun.
Thanks

I found that little arrow on the rh upper corner minimizes it on every forum. Once I draw it up it stays up no matter where I go, and there is no loading effort.
I think you already have what you are wishing for.

Hi Guys-
We initially installed it as an experiment. I'm not all that impressed with it, to be honest. What I'd really like to have is a fully featured chat application that runs outside of the forum script. As Jim said, you can minimize it and effectively stop it from loading. But I agree that it doesn't perform all that well.
I also noticed that the extra smilies were slowing the load time. We removed some of those too, so that should help things a bit as well.

Well the little arrow mentioned by Coop did the job so I gues that is second best to not having it at all. If it comes to a vote....I vote no peanut gallery.

What I would like to see is a page/one to one chat. Sometimes you need to get a hold of someone who is online, and they don't all look at peanut gallery. If not that, a change to the way the PMs work. British Blades has a pop-up for the person if you request a read receipt. Is quite nice. I know many many folks I talk to never check to see if they have PMs.:banghead

Like I said... it's a cool idea. Experimenting is good. If the arrow feature turns it off I say keep the gallery. Folks seem to be using it.
I tried the arrow... we'll see how it goes!
Thanks Alex.

Yeah... that did the trick.
No complaints now! :)

It is too slow for me. I have dial up. It slows things down before I can get to the arrow.
