Here is the first run at bluing. I had a spot that faded a bit, so I will have to put them back in the oven, but I am pretty happy with the initial result:

Looks like they need to be etched a bit more. Let them go until you can slightly feel the topography with your finger. Then scrub them off with #0000 steel wool, lightly sand (by hand), with 800-1000 grit, then blue them. You'll have a much bolder definition.
But, for being subtle, they set the knife off nicely!

I tried to etch first, then sand, then blue, but it kept coming out blotchy. The best effect I got was to high polish the bolsters, then cook them. Any type of satin finish didn't give me the look I want. I will keep experimenting. BTW, what you see is strictly from the bluing. They were not etched at all. Now all I have to do is convince you to make some SnS with nickel:) That would just explode with color.
