Ed,
I often see canvas micarta and G10 that has a texture that I am guessing was blasted with something. The 'grain' of the fabric is exposed without any fuzzyness. Can you give me some guidence?
Thanks,
Dan

It's really very simple. I use sand to blast my handles. It's more aggressive than beads or powders and gives the handle a really grippy surface. Just take the knife to someone who has a blaster and let them shoot it. Nothing really to it.

Bob's right about just blasting it. There are lots of different media to use, I prefer glass beads for G-10 and micarta. Sand does OK, but gives a more "cut" look and feel than I like. It takes a bit longer with glass beads, but the texture of the material is brought out moreso than with sand. Everyone has their favorite, so the thing to do is just try some different types of media and see which you prefer.
Thanks, that was a big help!

Glass beads are avail. in x-fine to coarse. which would be best for linen/canvas micarta?

As Ed has shown it's personal preference. I like the more aggressive medium but Ed preferes the less aggressive medium. Experiment with each and see whitch one you like best.
