This guy is trying the old send you a cheque for $3,500 and you take your cut scam.

Ya these type of things really piss me off. I've had some completely legit customers from overseas that I've worried my way through the transaction just because these scams exist.

Nice to know people in this community look out for eachother though.

This guy tried that this AM with me. Was very low key vs. other folks who do this, but he looked at a couple of knives in Classified here, then ASKED me by email how much they cost. Duh! So I sent him an email saying it was posted. Have not heard back from him since.

Would not have done it anyway.

I am a tad bit careful right now ;-)

What I propose is a mailing list, call it Scam Alert or Knife Scam Alert. Get as many ppl to join as possible, then when someone tries the lame scam Bull#### or someone gets scammed, we can send an alert to the list and everyone will be notified. It getting to the point that something like this is needed.
