Hi All!
I have sporatic use of a computer over here, and thought I'd drop a quick note. Going to do a bit of forging this weekend.........(I'm having withdrawls) but then it's back to work! Still have two projects to get done, and with the limited resources and time, long days are the norm. I'll try to check back as often as I can, but don't know that I'll be able to chat much!
Take Care!

It's good to hear from you Ed. So you found a place to do some forging?

Hey Ed,
Must have been a heavy suitcase to get all the forging stuff in there. :-) Have fun and be safe.

Hi All,
It's Saturday evening here (8 hours ahead. time difference from home). Really boring around here on the weekends, so I came into the office and was checking out the forums. I'm suppose to get in some forging time on Monday, and be back home late on the 9th.
Jon,
About all I did bring was a couple of new hammers that I made up before I left, but the shop I'm going to is suppose to have a power hammer and be decked out to work. Just some fund time to recharge my batteries.
Really looking forward to getting home and maybe getting that 50lber of mine running this fall/winter. Any word as to whether or not your gona be moving?
Thanks for keeping the forum active for me while I'm outta the country!!

Where are you at in Germany? I was stationed there from 1964 to 1967 and from 1970 to 1975. Sure do miss the German beer.

Ed,
I borrowed a set of videos on running power hammers. 10hrs. of how to run and build tools for it. It's incredible how much you can do with them and I've only got through 3 hrs. of tape!!!
The neat thing is the hammer the guy demonstrrates on is just like mine.

Hi All!
Tom... I'm currently working projects at both Spangdahlem and Bitburg. Just general construction stuff, but I do have a doozie of a road to get paved this week outside of Bitburg.
I'll go my best to get pics of everything and get them posted once I get home. As for the German beer, I guess it's just been too long since I've been a drinker...I tried a Bitburger Phils, and darn near gagged! Most of the other guys that are routine beer drinkers are having a blast though!
Jon..... Which tapes did you get your hands on? I've been looking at the set they have on anvilfire.com and was wondering if they would be worth the $$.
Hope everyone has a great Labor Day!

Sounds like your making the most of the trip anyway Ed. I was referring to you being obsessed with knife making to find a place and the time to do it in Germany. When I worked construction out of town I would load up the forge and anvil and enough steel to last the duration. Keep us informed on your trip.
