Hi all,

I'm thinking of buying an anvil with no hardy hole, which means I'll need a saw to cut bars, separate billets from handles, etc. Would anyone be able to give me recommendations? I browsed the Amazon selection of chop saws, which is pretty vast, and I'm a little overwhelmed...

Thanks,

JD

Josh you can get by with a cheap pawnshop hatchet to use as a hot cutter, either by locking it in a vise,or strike the square end with a hammer until its almost through. thats how I do it and it will get you by and its cheap. Hope this helps.

I have a 14" abrasive chop saw that I have used for years. It has cut tons and I mean tons or tool steel bar stock. It is a makita,it is fast strong and durable. Cost about $180.00 but it is well worth it. several other brands are also good at about the same price, Dewalt, Milwaukee, There are cheaper ones on the market but you usually get what you pay for when it comes to tools--------Rade

Thanks Rade and John,

I had not thought about using a vice to hold a cutting tool. Seems like a good idea.

Cheers,
