Progunner, my friend---Those sheaths are exceptionally well executed, big on class, big on function! Posting your pictures here allows us to examine them and pick up pointers we might have not incorporated in our work. Your work will also be critiqued by viewers both professional and the hobbyist as that is one of the prime purposes of the Gallery. We try to be honest in our assessment but, after all, it is only the opinion of the critiquing individual and not meant to be a put down. I am probably one of the most out spoken of the group but it is always just an opinion---backed by over 60 years of leather work, some of which was pretty good and some not so good!------Your pouch sheaths do not encase enough of the handle to prevent the movement of the knife from loosening the molded grip on the guard over a period of time. I find that three finger widths of exposed handle is enough to allow a controlled draw of the knife and further stabilizes the knife in the sheath. Your molding is crisp and clean and you could easily turn your "Hobby" in to a profession! The last statement is fact, the previous is an opinion! Please post as often as you can---we all like eye candy! ---Sandy---

Sandy, Thanks for the kind words and high praise. I like your point on the pouches not being deep enough. I think those are my second efforts at leather sheath making, so I will definitely try your idea next time. I was not too keen on how they swept back in when I did the molding, as I did not take into account the material coming to gether as I molded it around the handle. I do have to say that the knife in both sheaths lock in there almost like it were in kydex, but I can see that over years it might lose that locking effect. I made the one for the tan handled model about a year ago and I wore it a lot after I first made it. I recently (a month ago) started wearing it again on a nearly daily basis just to see what weaknesses I could find in the design. Thanks again for the critique and kind words.

Thanks for the eye candy John, your work is rapidly becoming some of the best I've seen for the Big Busses! Sandy's right (of course !) the short throats work fine for kydex, but leather will stretch enough to really loosen up your tight fit. Even the cool little pin dimple (shades of Jens Anso !) will flatten out pretty soon.
But the strapped versions really look strong, and verrrry nicely put together ! Good work my friend :D

High praise from my mentor is always welcome. :) You know me well Mike, kydex had spoiled me with the shallow throat thing. I vow to make deep throats from now on. Somehow that doesn't sound right, any way your praise and critique are much appreciated my friend.
