i was at the local hardwood dealer today and found the most beautiful piece of tulip wood i have ever seen and just had to buy it, very nice grain (although it doesnt show in the scan) also some real nice pinks and reds in the color and very aromatic!when grinding it smells like a flower shop..the women would love it.
my question is...is the dust from tulip wood toxic..it sure smells like flowers when you grind!!

Like a lot of others contact dermatitis is a problem, you can become sensitized to it. I won't use it for this reason.

I suggest working it in cool weather (no sweat on the skin) and wear long sleeves. Respirators are also a very good idea.

It has a habit of oxidizing on contact with air so get it coated ASAP.
