Down to the wire. Stage #6 is the final stage in this too long and too drawn-out process. Fairly simple here: "Sheaths and final options".
Sheaths "appears" to be an easy choice, but, of course, it has it's complications as well. One "for instance". Everybody knows that a Model #26-4" "Pathfinder" comes with a "no-hone" "POUCH-TYPE" sheath....Right? Not necessarily. You can also get a Model "B" type sheath, in tan or black, for a "Pathfinder". This procedure holds true in this case, but seldom does the reverse hold true. You "CANNOT" get a pouch for a Model #7-4 1/2" instead of the Model "B" sheath that it comes with.
There are a lot of "hidden" choices when it comes to sheaths. A Model "20-4 1/2" "Yukon Skinner" comes with a tan sheath, with a hone pocket and a "handle keeper" strap: But did ya' know that you can order a Model #20-4 1/2" with a "no hone sheath" and a "diagonal keeper strap"? More little "cracks" in the ordering "wall".. Lots of choices. For now: Let's concentrate on black or tan, with or without a pocket hone and then we will "fine-tune" the sheath from there.
Final options is going to be the hardest part of this entire process. This will involve the moderators tallying up the model choices, blade length, metal, etc. and coming up with a "final" knife! Actually: I'd opt for a "short list" of the top 3 choices and let everyone Give an impassioned plea for their "pet Randall" before a final tally, but, as I say, it is out of my hands. One thing that is not out of my hands is the final say on this Randall being a "go" or a "no-go". I know what the shop will make and what it will not. For instance: I have said all along that this knife should be made out of "shop"- supplied material, with shop-available options, not a "dream model" that the Randall shop does not or will not make. This also includes options such as name plates and etchings. If the "winner" (however that will be determined) wishes to have his or her name etched on the blade, I can accomodate that: Maybe even a date, if there is enough room. Randall does not etch special serial numbers, etc. and this knife will be no exception. Special "club names", forum names, etc. and limited numbers are going to have to be excluded from this project. Sorry, folks; But that is one "option" that you cannot pick.
Anyway: I think that ya'll have plenty of loose ends to tie up. I will be around the office for a couple of days, as I am doing a show, right here in Orlando this weekend. Let's hear from ya'. and "good luck" to the mods in figuring all of this out. Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

Moose, I think you are winning me over to a point, on the dream knife. Try this on for size. #19 with 5" carbon steel blade with thumb notches, top edge sharpened, gnarly stag handle, with nickel silver butt cap and nickel silver 1/2 hilt, black and aluminum spacers, black basketweave sheath with hone. OK, I know you got to have stainless but this is my dream right now.

Seuss, I like your idea, and will opt for a " black basketweave sheath with hone" as well.

I'm glad you have started to see the attraction of the "Bushmaster". :)

Moose and Seuss,
Hey, That still rhymes. Sorry guys but: No basketweaved sheath. It is not available. Black, with or without a hone "is" available on many models as long as the blade is long enough. A good many of the 3/16" stock model Randalls are "not" available with a hone pocket. I know that you 2 are talking about a model #19, but other ones are in contention as well. A model #7-5" and a model #22-4 5/8" are both 3/16" stock and "are" available with a hone pocket.
Everyone needs to take a small step back, catch their breath and concentrate on the task at hand, i.e. choosing a "hunting" knife. We can always play this game later with another style. Maybe we need a "tally" of the Randall models "up for nomination", so to speak. If ya'll give me an idea of which knife, I can perhaps give you an idea of the sheath "type/ types" and options available for it. Let me know, for now, Best, Captain Chris Stanaback

I'll go for a Tan regular, Type A sheath, with the pocket stone.

I agree with Moosehead.

I too would like a Tan, Type A with Stone. The reason is, if that I am to use it as a hunter, and not a safe queen, I would want a small stone attached. If it's a "user" you will need a stone sooner than later to resharpen. I don't wan't a dull knife, nor do I want to drag a extra sharpener with! :(

After I win the Powerball, I'll order a "Exotic" sheath from Greg. G. :D

Just my .2!
