I thought I'd make my own oilite bushing for my next knife but am having a difficult time finding oilite (sintered bronze?). I purchased oil impregnated bronze rods from MSC (61223962). Will this work?
Thanks for your help.
Philip
PS: Can't wait to see everyone at the blade show; I'm pretty lucky to live only :smokin 15 minutes from the Galleria.

I use oil impreg. for my pivot and standard bronze for my washers. I bought a sheet of bronze from Mcmaster Carr and punch my own washers. The material is .015 thick.

Yes, what you have will work. Oilite bronze is just another name for oil impregnated bronze. Those rods are what I use ........

I'm lazy.....I just purchase the bushings from MSC. .252 OD X .125 or .1875 ID... their about .35 cents each. Besides, my machining skills leave a lot to be desired! :)

I hadn't even looked to see if MSC sold the bushings themselves. It's nice to have a fallback plan if I'm unable to get the results I want by machining the bronze myself.
Thanks,
Philip
