I know that a lot of folks use these or one similar and just wanted to let everyone know that they are on sale at Harbor Freight for $139.99. From what I have been told, with a little adjustments they will do the job. For that price you can't hardly afford not to have one.

I've had one for over three years and I've used and abused it and it just keeps cutting. For the price I don't think you can beat it. If mine quits tomorrow I'll order another one from Harbor Freight.

I know I've bad-mouthed mine in the past, but I love it now. What I did do was figure out what it was best for. My porta-band gets the MOST use. I chuck it up in a vise and go to town. My horizontal gets used making end cuts. Great for that.

Jason, are you using the porta band for profiling, or just for cutting stock to length? Although I have made a number of improvements to my chinese bandsaw, the blade still jumps off the wheel at the most inopportune times.

Don,
I occasionally had that problem but I learned to keep the blade VERY tight and NO OIL on blade at all. This helped considerably.
BTW, I bought a cryo'ed blade from Texas Knifemaker's Supply. It is the cat's meow. I was skeptical at first but that thing just won't quit!

I profile some, but mostly just to length like damascus billets and raw stock...
My portaband needs a rebuild as well, jumps off as well.
