Over lunch, I went to Half Priced Books to see if I could find a copy of White Hunter, Black Heart. No luck. So I was snoopin' around the photography section and came across a book called, African Visions, which is a photographic account of the author's life in East Africa. Anyway, I'm paging through it and come to a section on George Adamson of Born Free fame. Well, it caught my interest because I have read two books on his life of rehabilitating and releasing lions back into the wild. Anyway, for the last 20 years of his life (before he was murdered by Somalian bandits in 1989), he had an assistant named Tony Fitzjohn, who basically looks like Tarzan and now heads up the African Wild Dog Breeding Progam in Tanzania. Anyway, there is a large colored photograph of George and Tony standing by a Landrover and BOOM, right there, Tony is wearing a standard Model 14 in a RBJ that had darkened from use and no tie downs. Couldn't believe it! Whenever I'm paging through books on hunting or war, I'm always looking for a Randall and this is the first time I've ever spotted one. Made my day!

Hi Tom!

That's very neat. These Randalls have certainly travelled all over the planet, including some very exotic places.

I'm still waiting to see a published photo of one "in use" up here in Canada.

Of course, I don't count the picture of me and one of my favourite Randalls on the front cover of "Moose Madness" magazine! :lol

P.S. It's a model #23, with a super stag handle (my favourite handle material). You'll see more of this great knife in the Randall Gallery in the near future.
