Hello,
I have a strange little folder. I have zero info and have been able to find out zero on this lil guy. I assume it is a custom because etched into the blade on one side appears to be "1.1.80" on one side and "26/64" on the other. Here are links to the pictures I took of it. The blade seems to have a copper plug inlaid into it at the point of the cutout. The locking system is also a weird one......

Anyone have any ideas?

I know I must sound like a broken record, but ask Bernard Levine on his forum. Not only does he know about antiques, he keeps pretty close tabs on custom makers also. If Bonner was ever registered Mr. Levine will know about him.

Tic, that's not a lock back? How does the blade engage into the release?

It's a slick looking little folder! I've not seen one like that before either.

I think that it is made by Jeremy BONNER. I have not been able to find any info on the net about him, but Tim McCreight refers to knives that are very similiar in style (with photo's) in his book Custom Knifemeaking, 10 projects from a master craftsman. If you have the book, they are on pages 157,162, and 174.

Hope this helps.

Hey I will chime in here. I bought a little folder some time back from Dave @ Nordic Knives in Solvang CA. This little knife is also made by Bonner, and I understood from Dave that he is no longer living. This little knife I have was a run of 82 knives if I remember right, and this one #12-0f-82 ( I do not have the knife in from of me) and is also marked '85' fo the year 1985.

The littel knife you have there looks like the same general shape. I do not have more information than that on him.

Sincerely, Don Carlos

I really like the fish! This style knife may be a new rare or scarce collectible, wonder how many are out there. Thanks for the photos!

Cool, I'm glade you guy's liked the images. I was sort of caught off guard when I saw the thread, as I have never known anything about this maker.

This one really is a GEM. I particualrly like the detail on the eye, a bit more work to set two pins for the effect. The action is really nice, overall well done and a pretty strong little folder.

Sincerely, Don Carlos

It's pure art to me, making the tail come back under the body of the fish in order to add more material in that area. Something that I'm afraid I wouldn't have ever thought of. Nice Catch Don Carlos!!!!
