Does anyone have any reliable sources for 52100? My first would be inexpensive, used bearings. Otherwise, bar or roundstock would be okay, too.

Thanks,

Check at heavy equipment shops, if you talk to the shop forman he will probably let you dig through the scrap bins. A side note, make sure you get ball bearings, most roller bearings I have run into are case hardend.

As for round bar, Admiral steel caries 3/4 bar, and Sheffield Knifemaker's Supply carries flat bar.

Hope this helps

A company called McMaster Carr has a pretty good selection of 52100,at least in my catalog. They have larger dia that admiral.
Thay are on line also at www.mcmastercarr.com so you do not need a catalog. Just looked on line and found it on page 3341.

They sell in 1,3,6 foot lengths and 1" dia is about $13.00
