I finished my first knife made from cruwear and am using it as my EDC. I really like it but i was wondering where it fits on the scale between readily rusting carbon steels and stainless steels?

RJ Martin 03-12-2005, 07:07 AM Sleepy: Cru-wear has 7.5% chromium, and D2 has 11.5% chromium. Cru-wear certainly isn't a stainless-You'd better plan to protect that blade with some type of Corrosion inhibitor. Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide is my favorite. sleepy 03-12-2005, 10:06 AM Thank You RJ. I etched it with undilutted muratic(sp?) acid will this be sufficient? I,m not sure if I used the right process or not but it seemed to give a very good etch and color. Soaked in the acid 4 times 30 minutes each. Rinsed of with water and neutralized after first 3. After 4 time rinsed with water put in boiling water for 15 minutes then added baking soda and boiled another 15 minutes. After I finished the handle I waxed the blade. It has a dark charcoal grey color and has proved scratch resistant so far. | |
