Joe, I would love to see a little better picture. But the sheath looks great, and an inlay yet, my favorite to do. It is a pretty nice skin too. Hard to tell what kind of skin it is though.

Keep it up and looking forward to seeing some more.Dave :101

Dave ,
Thanks for the comments. Sorry for the poor quality photos but I'm not much of a photographer ! The skin is Timber Rattler tanned by your recipe of glycerine & alcohol.

Joe---That is a VERY nice sheath, my friend! How far around the spine onto the back did you carry the inlay? The wrap like that is more intricate and painstaking than just the frontal inlay but it is also more susceptible to wear. Your stitching is excellent and it looks as though the main stitch line and the inlay line of stitches is of equal stitches per inch and the same thread size. This is quite effective. I like the throat treatment also as I like the curves rather than a straight cut. Sorry we can not see the attachment of the belt loop and the back side. I recognized the timber rattlesnake as the mountains of North Georgia are LOADED with them creepy crawlers. I did not realize that you had them scudders in Alaska. Dave might not have recognized the pattern of the timber rattler but I can gare-own-tee that he can spot a Diamond Back from a mile away -----Sandy---

Sandy ,

Thanks very much for your kind words. The inlay goes about 3/4 around. I would have posted more views of the back but I haven't learned how to do that yet ! Although the Canebreak doesn't do very well in Alaska , I am a transplanted S. Georgian. :D I hope to drop by & pay you a visit one of these days when I 'm down your way . I do appreciate all the help you have given in the leather forum. It has enhanced my work immensely but at times I feel like you have set the bar way out of my reach.

Best Wishes ,

Joe

Joe -- one of the things I like the best about the Sheath Gallery is the variety of basic sheath designs, each done with the maker's own artistic input. I love this sheath -- It's almost like every other inlayed pouch I've ever seen -- but it has its own unique character, which makes it different from every other sheath !
Well done, or as we Navy guys say, "Bravo Zulu" :D
