Hi,
I'm 16, and a relatively new maker, only made a few. I'm also new to this forum and TKCA. I wanted to know if anyone is in the south Austin area, that I could meet/learn from? Since I'm relatively new, I could greatly benifit from watching an experienced maker, and that maker critiquing my work/style. If anyone is in this area and doesn't mind me learning from them, I'd be greatly obliged. Thanks, and thanks for giving free memberships to minors! :)

Hello Brian-welcome to knifemaking and TKCA! I am located in Dripping Springs...just a few miles west on 290. You are welcome to come take a shop tour and talk knives. Give me a call 512-858-5424 if you're interested and we'll set up a time. You should also try to attend the hammer-ins that take place at Johnny Stout's Guadalupe Forge. The things you will learn at these hammer-ins will take years off your learning curve. Later-Phil

Thanks Mr. Tham,
I think I'll take you up on that, I'll give you a call this week. I've got an injury on my thumb currently, so after that heals in about a week or so, I'll be able to come by.
Do you forge or do stock removal? I do stock removal, but forging interests me.
Thanks again,
~Brian

I'm down the road a bit from you...out in Bryan/College Station...but you're more than welcome to come out some weekend.

Just don't expect to see a whole lot of that nasty burnt orange color around here, we're kinda partial to maroon and white. :lol
