FYI: Manfred Melzer in Hamburg Germany has a new knife site up at:

http://www.knifearte.de/

You might take a look and tell him what you think. It looks great to me.

('Course, he has a few Johnson's shown there, maybe that's why I like it)!

Very nice gentleman who obviously appreciates the custom knife.

Hi Steve,

Yep, good site. Thanks for the link.

Speaking of websites, your new one isn't too shabby either. The photos are first class as expected. The ivory fighter on your picture page is magnificent.

Best,
Tom

Thank you, Tom,

Today is the first day for the revised site to be up. You're fast! I've always liked that big fighter, also. Maybe I'll put it in my Avatar....

Steve,

You know what I would really like to see? The first knife you made in 1966 that you mention on your website. Any chance of posting a pic on this forum? Like Bo Randall's first knife, I presume it is the most valueable SRJ knife in existance no matter what it looks like.

Thanks,
Tom

I'll try to shoot a good photo. Got a bad one, but give me a bit to try again.

Steve,

Just looked at the large fighter. Really beautiful, but then again, all the other knives are too. Do you remember what year it was made? The different guard lengths really set it off. Is it elephant ivory?

Also, regarding your website. I am having a hard time seeing the "menu list" on the right side of the page. It is very dark. Might just be my computer.

Looking forward to seeing your first knife. No rush.

It was done in 2001, photo'd at the Guild show.

I generally make the bottom quillion a bit longer than the top, but that's the only one where the top one is so short, that I recall.

Elephant Ivory it is.

The menu list is fine here. don't kow what to tell you on that. Maybe restart?

Proudly, I am the owner of that fighter's little brother. I am fortunate to have an ivory 5" dirk fighter...although I think mine was made on a machine because it is just too perfect. Nobody has that steady of hand. ;)

I got to play with that fighter for nearly a week - it was amazing. The big slabs of ivory were awesome.
