It has come to my attention that there are continuing questions about the cancellation of the 2005 SouthEastern Custom Knife Show. Needless to say the cancellation is a disappointment to all of us. The text below is from a letter I sent to the Board of Directors this past November and gives a good account of what transpired. I hope this helps.

November 17, 2004

Dear Board,

I am writing to inform you that I will not be promoting the SouthEastern Custom Knife Show for the year 2005 or thereafter.

As you are already aware, the new management of the Adam’s Mark hotel and convention center chose to break verbal commitments and a nine year relationship with our show this past September to pursue another potentially more profitable client. Unable to secure the other show, the new management again offered us our previous space.

Unfortunately, my subsequent efforts to secure an acceptable contract have failed. I have consistently experience poor communication, late responses, and revisions of agreed to details. The latest revision is the loss of our hospitality/courtesy suite due to new policy regarding bringing in outside food and beverages.

In short, I have no confidence in entering into a contractual agreement with the Adam’s Mark. As you know, I have explored other venues for our show and I have not found an alternate site. After over two months of honest effort I deeply regret this outcome, but I am forced to accept the reality of this situation.

Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Andrew McLurkin
