Well, got everything together. I have ground down the pins and filed them almost flush to the wood. But I have a dilemma. How do I get the pins to stay flush with the wood? After I finish the wood by sanding, they will stick up again. Then if I file them off I will most certainly hit the wood. This could go on forever. Am I missing something?

i dont know if you are doing this allredy but if you back the sand paper up with a flat hard surface like a piece of glass or a ceramic tile the pins and handel should finnish evenly
