This is the first time I have tried to post a photo. The knife is a Scottish Sgian Dubh with Axis or Red Deer handle and a Waterbuffalo spacer. The blade is 1095. This is my bread and butter and sells well because I can keep the cost low. Most pipers rather spend their money on beer than knives ;)

That pommel looks ready for some carving... :)
Nice piece. Scots? Spend money on booze instead of nice Sgian Dubhs? NO! ;)

Dude, That would look good in your "stockings" while you "squeze them cats". And I'm not even going to talk about your Kilt !!!!

Thanks for the imput. It is just a humble little knife compared to much of the work I have seen posted here. Jon, I would carve the end of some of the knives if I had any artistic ability, but that went away when I stopped drinking :lol

Looks good, Nathan
The stag is indeed looking perfect for some carving or engraving.
The mom of my best friend from Stirlingshire is a Taylor too.
If I'm right it's through her that I adopted the "modern military Cameron tartan"
of the Queen's own Cameron Highlanders.
Try your hand at carving, you may be surprised.
I have several friends pipers, and most do indeed rather spend their money on beer than
decent knives.
I know of one who had his sgian dhu rusted stuck in its sheath!

Thanks for the imput Jan. I have another sgian that I will try carving since I have so many reply on this matter. If it turns out good I will post it, if it does not I will fire up the grinder and erase it. I have a choice in tartans to pick from myself but I picked the last bog trotter to leave the Isle as my Clan choice. I think he was the only one who was not "asked" to leave Scotland the rest were transported.
:) FYI: if any makers have an urge to donate some Sgians - the FDNY Pipes and Drums would be a good home. Those guys had a lot of wear and tear on their equipment over the last few years.
Take care and stay safe. NT
