hope these are bright enough - the bowie is one made for someone who couldn't afford it when i got it done , oh well - it'll look good if i deceide to wear it with my cowboy outfit . the knife is forged from 1084 , 12" blade , ebony handle and nickel silver pins . the sheath is an idea i got from one of chucks post , it can be used with or without the belt loop .

That's a gret combo Paul. Excellent pics of the sheath and frog arangement too. I love these early straight back Bowies. What are the technical specs?

on the knife - started with 1/4" x 1" 1084 , ended up with 3/16 x 1 1/2 x 12 3/16 distale tapper blade from handle to tip . double edge quench , triple draw . handle is 1 x 5 with a tapper , ebony wood with checkering , and 3/8" nickel silver pins . i had a onion and tomato stained blade at first , but didn't like the grind up near the tip , and when i reground it , couldn't get the finish the way i wanted , so i cleaned the whole thing back up and dipped in ferric cloride . gave it the dark gray finish and brought out the hardening line . the false edge goes from tip to handle . then for fun , i engraved " col james bowie " on it . the wife said i couldn't do that - i said i hope he doesn't sue me . hope that answers your questions - paul
